Glacier National Park is one of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in the United States. With its rugged peaks, cascading waterfalls, and crystal-clear lakes, it's a dream destination for many couples looking to tie the knot in a stunning setting and I never get tired of capturing them. For one couple, Laura and Corey, September 20th marked the day of their elopement. Laura and Corey's Elopement was one of my favorites in regards to the level of detail and thought put into every aspect of their day. The day started at their rental in Columbia Falls where they had a brunch with their family catered by Graze Montana (It was already mostly finished by the time we arrived) and then started to get ready. Laura had her hair and makeup done by Elegance by Joy Renee while we captured details outside.
Before departing for the ceremony, the couple exchanged letters and gifts and Laura had a first look with her father where she gifted him a tie with a special photo inside.
The day started with the couple exchanging vows on the picturesque Ryan Beach in front of their immediate family while Laura's brother acted as an officiant. With the stunning Lake McDonald as their backdrop, the couple exchanged their vows with only the sounds of the gentle lapping waves and the chirping of the birds in the background. Somehow amidst the business of everyone getting ready, the rings got misplaced under the seat in the car (they were located later), so the couple exchanged their parent's rings. Family members who could not be present recorded audio messages which were played and the two mothers each read messages. It was an intimate, thoughtful, and romantic ceremony that truly captured the beauty of the park.
After the ceremony, the couple enjoyed a picnic lunch reception at the Fish Creek picnic area, another stunning location within the park. Many vendors were used to make this beautiful and delicious lunch. The majority of the meal was provided by Bonjour Bakery and Bistro, including delicious sandwiches, salads, quiches and pastries. Graze Montana provided the fruit board and Miss Patticakes baked the delicious cake. Empress Tents & Events provided all of the decor and Big Sky Wedding Planning put it all together so that everything was ready when the couple and guests arrived. If you are considering having a picnic at your own elopement, keep in mind that a set up like this is only allowed at an established picnic area or campsite. As they sat and enjoyed their meal, they were surrounded by the majestic beauty of the park. The sounds of the rushing creek and the rustling of the trees provided the perfect soundtrack to their lunchtime picnic. After they finished eating, they signed their marriage license, said goodbye to family and then it was off to explore the park.
Next on the agenda were stops at Big Bend, Logan Pass, and Sun Point. Each location offered something unique, from stunning views of the park's towering peaks to tranquil moments of reflection by the crystal-clear lakes. At Big Bend, the couple took in the sweeping views of the park's iconic peaks, including Mount Oberlin and Mount Cannon.
When Laura first booked with me she sent me a photo I had taken from a previous elopement and said this, I want THIS photo. So at Logan Pass, the couple hiked along the Highline Trail, which provided breathtaking views of the park's alpine meadows and towering peaks. Laura braved her fear of heights on the Rimrocks section to get the photo she envisioned from the very beginning planning stages of her elopement.
The couple took their time to appreciate the peaceful surroundings and reflect on the beauty of their love and the natural world around them. It was approaching evening and the normally busy Logan Pass was quiet as clouds floated around the peaks.
Finally, the couple stopped at Sun Point, a serene location that provided a peaceful and tranquil end to their elopement adventure. As the sun began to set over the park, the couple reflected on the day's adventures and the love they shared. We turned off the cameras for awhile so they could just reflect and enjoy for awhile before powering them back on and getting the best sunset light.
Overall, this Laura and Corey's elopement was an unforgettable experience. From the picturesque Ryan Beach to the serene Sun Point, the couple's journey through the park was a testament to the beauty and wonder of nature. It was an intimate and romantic way to celebrate their love and start their new life together. Interested in a similar elopement for yourself?
